Tuamotu/Rangiroa: Snorkeling at Ile Aux Recif
Some of the most pristine and clear water in the world is at Ile aux Recif on Rangiroa. The water pushes through the outer coral reef and then runs through a channel into the inner atoll lagoon. Snorkeling at Île aux Récifs is absolutely incredible – it’s a true drift snorkel. A wide and relatively deep channel lies between the edge of the reef on the ocean side and the white sand beaches on the lagoon side and a swift current carries you all along past brain coral towers, hundreds of tropical fish, and dozens of blacktip sharks swimming around. The constant current makes the water clear and transparent with awesome visibility.
