Turkey: Ancient Pirin
Ancient Pirin is an archaeological site preserving the ruins of an ancient city from the Commagene Kingdom (163 BC – 72 AD). The sprawling hilltop remains have many cave dwellings and room, sarcophagi, tombs, various burial chambers and necropolis. A Roman settlement of Antiochia on the Taurus was later rebounded at the same spot. Boardwalks take you all around the massive site, and it’s quite a lot of walking and climbing into various rooms carved out of the rock. The scenery is panoramic and spectacular.
