Turkmenistan: Ashgabat – Alem Ferris Wheel

The Alem Ferris wheel in Ashgabat (meaning “The Universe”) is the world’s largest indoor Ferris wheel as recognized by Guinness World Records in 2012 (to be guest it’s just encased in a shell rather then being indoor). The wheel is housed in a glass and white-steel enclosure shaped like the eight-sided star of Oguz Khan, national symbol of Turkmenistan that is omnipresent in everything. The structure, which cost $90 million to build, is open only on special occasions, or when important tourists like us show up. Panoramic views of the city – all while and marbly can be had from the top.
