Turkmenistan: Ashgabat – Altyn Asyr Bazaar

To really get a taste of Turkmenistan, you gotta head to its colorful and massive Altyn Asyr Bazaar, also known or Tolkuchka Bazaar. It is the largest market in Turkmenistan, the fifth-largest in Central Asia, it spans 154 hectares and was opened in 2011 by then-President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov (father of the current president). It was designed to resemble a Turkmen carpet ornament and features unique architecture visible from above. It has 2155 shops withvast range of goods, including Turkmen carpets, handicrafts, silks, jewelry, clothing, fresh produce, livestock, household items (like bbq grilling stuff), and much much more. You probably need a whole day to see everything. And especially the livestock part with lol the camels and goats and sheep!
