Turkmenistan: Ashgabat – Sport Hotel

“Opulence – I has it” – remember that commercial? Well, the Sport Hotel in Ashgabat (named so because it was built for Asian Olympics in 2021) is just that – over the top opulence. Loads and loads of white marine inside and out, lots of gold accents and accessories, all imaginable amenities (even internet which is a rarity in Turkmenistan), plus pool and sauna and a good restaurant. Art on the walls and carpets on the floor. And more gold!
