Turkmenistan: Neutrality & Giant Ruhnama Monuments

Monument to Neutrality is a there-legged tripod-like futuristic construction with a statue of the president Niyazov on top in sparkling gold. The statue moves with the sun, rotating throughout the day. Not far from this is another bizarre monument – Giant Ruhnama (Book of Soul) – a book that President Niyazov penned. Both fine examples of the excesses of personality cults.
