Turkmenistan: Turkmenbashi – Aran Market

Turkmenbashi is famous for its Arian Market in the heart of the town. While in many ways it similar to other Turkmen markets – textiles, produces, fruits and vegetables, spices, etc. – this one has a special section for fish from the Caspian Sea. Here you can find all sorts of fresh, smoked, dried, and any other way-prepared fish, including sturgeon and black caviar (the latter two are often being caught illegally).
