Turkmen food is awesome and we ate a lot – FB doesn’t allow more than 80 pics per post. Insanely juicy lamb Shashlyk (kebab) grilled in the open, plow (national dish of rice and spices and meat, quite different from the Uzbek one), Manty (large round dumplings with meat and sometimes vegi filling – we went back for more many times), Dogroma (unique Turkmen soup made with shredded bread and lamb), Ishlykly (small empanada-like meat pies), dolma (stuffed grape leaves), chords (clear meat soup), chebureky, kokmach (meat stew), and many many other dishes. For drinks – gotta go with chal (fermented cow or camel milk – the letter explodes with excess carbonation), good beer, and surprisingly high quality vodka and cognac.
