Turkmenistan: Yangykala Canyon – Crocodile Month Viewpoint

The word Yangykala means “fiery fortress” in Turkmen – the canyon’s cliffs glow with red, pink, orange, and yellow hues, especially during sunrise and early morning. The must see is the ultimate viewpoint on top of the ridge called the Crocodile Viewpoint. From here you get a 360 panorama of colorful cliffs as far as the eye can see – truly surreal. What’s more, there is a rock formation that resembles a crocodile jaw, and you can even climb on top of it and stand and an rock overhanging an abyss down below (get your adrenaline running and conquer your fear of heights).
