UAE/Abu Dhabi: Emirates Palace
Emirates Palace is the ultra luxury hotel and the second most expensive hotel to be built, costing over 6 billion dollars to complete in 2006. It’s floors are fully decked out in most expensive marble while the columns and ceilings are all covered with real leaf gold! Everything here screams excess – gold everywhere, crystal chandeliers, extreme boutique stores, even the elevator is all gold. But there is more – the world’s only ATM vending gold bars and coins is here! Emirates Palace serves cappuccino with real gold flakes at its coffee shop. For 50 dirham (about $13), you can see if your body can take small doses of metal poisoning.
