UAE/Dubai: Skydiving over Dubai at Skydive Dubai
Despite having visited every country on earth, I have never skydived before in my life. It has been one of my most ultimate bucket list items, as I wanted to do it in the most insane place in the world to skydive – in Dubai over the artificial islands of Palm Jumeirah. Five years ago I tried but the jump was cancelled due to strong winds, and two years ago the cancellation happened due to bad visibility. Third time the charm though! After signing my life away in various liability releases and going through a brief instruction – “just jump, flatten out, and enjoy” – the open door plane took off in front of Dubai Marina and climbed to 13,000 feet with scenic views everywhere. I was the first to jump out and – boom – I am free falling. About 1 minute of free fall where I could hardly breathe but still holding the thumbs up and then the parachute deployed for a leisurely 5 minute descent. Sounds sweet? Well, it was the single scariest and most adrenaline-pumping fit of my life – I thought my heart is gonna jump out of my chest and deploy its own parachute. Dubai is most definitely the best place to skyjump in the world! But would I do it again? No, skydiving ain’t my thing.
