Uganda: Rwenzori NP – Forest and Bamboo Zones

Rwenzori Mountains (aka Mountains of the Moon) is a spectacular mountain range on the border of Uganda and Congo. Unlike Mt Kilimanjaro or Mt Kenya, Rwenzori are not volcanic but are granite with many snow covered peak right next to the equator. A six day track starts at 4500 feet (1450 m) and in the first day you climb to over 10000 feet (3188 m) passing through different vegetation zones (the lower valleys, the green forest, and the bamboo forest).
