Ukraine: Dnipro – Menorah Center
Dnipro description wouldn’t be complete without the massive Menorah Center, supposedly the world’s largest Jewish community center. Several of the richest Ukrainian oligarchs being Jewish and coming from Dnipro, it seemed like a great idea to construct this monstrosity of a structure. Gennadiy Bogolyubov (net worth over $5 billion) and Ihor Kolomoyskyi (net worth over $1 billion) financed the entire thing. It’s build in the shape of Jewish menorah – seven marble towers of different height, prominently located in the city center, and looking stunning from every angle. Inside – there is the Golden Rose synagogue, art galleries, kosher restaurants, luxury Menorah Hotel, Holocaust museum, conference halls and much more. The inside is layered out in lux marble and decorations, and also includes the world’s largest silver menorah, that’s in the Guinness Book of Records. The building is an architectural overload inside and out and somewhat kitschy. The 5-star hotel was actually rather average.
