Ukraine: Lake Synevir & Synevir NP
Lake Synevir is the largest lake in the Carpathian Mountains and supposedly the jewel of the mountainous Synevir National Park. It’s also often called one of the Seven Wonders of Ukraine. But as it typically is with various “seven wonders”, it is seriously overhyped and is a total tourist trap. The lake itself is nothing special whatsoever, just a round lake surrounded by woods. But there are hordes of loud tourists, stalls with different trinkets, selfie-taking women in high heels and botox lips, and everybody trying to park everywhere into a total clusterfuck. The only good thing were the giant toads everywhere, making love and ignoring the tourists. But the park itself, outside the lake, is fantastic – grand vistas and views and forests filled with wildflowers.
