Ukraine: Verkhovina and sub-Carpathians
Going south from Kolomyia, you enter the beautiful foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. Tiny colorful houses are sorting the steep hills and snowy mountains are rising in the far distance. At around 3000 feet in elevation, the spring hasn’t come here in full forth yet and the trees are naked and barren. Verkhovina is the first major village along the way with fantastic panoramic 360 views as it sits on top of a mountain pass. The name Verkhovina when translated from Ukrainian literally means “the top”.
