Uruguay: Uruguayan Food Recap
Meat, meat, and more meat! Uruguayans consume more meat per capita than any other country in the world, up to a whopping 180kg per person per year. Uruguayan parilla is a national pastime, grilling juicy cuts of beef over wood fire. There are even steaks a la pizza – using meat as a base instead of dough. Everything here comes in ginormous sizes – chivito sandwich to feed 2-3 people at once, beer in 1-1.5 liter bottles, and gelato ice cream in balls the size of your head. Uruguay also makes good wine.
