US Virgin Islands: St. John – East End & Melocactuses
It’s a relatively long drive all the way to the most desolate part of St John – East End – but it’s well worth it. Some absolutely stunning vistas are to be had here. Even more interesting are the funny looking melocactuses – hundreds and hundreds of them here. They are also know as Turk’s Cap Cactuses for the white top that crowns the barrel body and where small red flowers appear. There are many species of this cactus in the Caribbean and Northern Venezuela.
