USA/FL: Florida Keys – Deep-sea Fishing
An all-day deep-sea fishing adventure out of Islamorada in Florida Keys. After getting used to 4-6 foot waves and all the associated sea-sickness, we quickly got drawn into pulling one fish after another. First it was mangrove snappers and strawberry groupers in the relatively shallow water, then some fresh bait fish, and then out and into the deeper open ocean. Massive greater amber jacks (one was 42 pounds and took a good 15 minutes fighting and struggling to pull it out), almaco jacks, and jack crevalle kept us busy. Tuna and bonito weren’t biting, and neither was sailfish, but nevertheless we ended up with nearly 100 pounds / 45 kg of fish. Enough fresh fish for days!
