USA/FL: Six Mile Cypress Slough
A small bit very interesting natural preserve – Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve – protects a stand of cypress trees covered in water with a boardwalk winding around them. While this may look like a swamp – it isn’t. A slough is different from a swamp, because in a slough water is always moving, acting as a very effective filter, attracting fish and birds. From the preserve, the water winds its way south to Estero Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. After a quick shower, the cypress trees were all dripping with rainwater and the reflections were stunning in the tannin-colored water around the boardwalk.
