USA/FL: West Palm Beach – Manatees Center
Manatees aka Sea cows live all around the Florida peninsula – massive herbivorous mammals, slow moving and gentle. In winter time, on particularly chilly days, they come closer to shore in search of warmer waters – river streams, warm springs, or (in West Palm Beach) the hot pools of the Florida Power & Light electric power station. The company built a visitor center with multiple viewing platforms where you can observe the animals. We got lucky with a cold day and counted over 50 manatees right in front of our eyes.
