USA/KY: Mammoth Cave NP – Historic Tour
Mammoth Cave National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is the world’s longest cave with about 400 miles/640km of surveyed passageways underground, more then double of the second longest cave in Mexico. While this is surely a spectacular and massive cave, it lacks the traditional stalactites and stalagmites formation you expect from other show caves – this is just a long never ending underground corridor. With the tours shrunk to only one self-guides due to COVID, you still get a pretty good feel for what Mammoth is about – dim lit, endless, featureless, and cold. The historic tour is the most popular and takes you through the historic parts of the gave, the most accessible.
