USA/MN: Northwest Angle
This place is very bizarre and unusual – there is t much to see here, but geographically it’s a gem. It’s a true exclave of the USA, that is it’s not a crinkle from the mainland USA, but only from Manitoba province in Canada. It’s the only point lying north of 49th parallel that divides USA and Canada. And it’s therefore the northernmost point of the US contiguous 48 states. It’s a small fishing community and there is a large marker attesting to the “northenmost-edness” (very similar to the one in Key West). Interestingly, there are no checkpoint or any measure to prevent somebody without a US visa to enter his little village and technically visit the USA (you are required to self-report and register thought)
