USA/NJ: Atlantic City – Absecon Lighthouse
Absecon Lighthouse in Atlantic City is the tallest lighthouse in New Jersey and third tallest in the USA at 171 feet. Interestingly, it still has the original First-Order Fresnel lens installed. The lighthouse is nearly in the center of Atlantic City, an island of history surrounded by skyscrapers of hotels, with no ocean even visible from the lighthouse. Perhaps it’s more of a beacon of normalcy, away from the insanity, cheesiness, kitsch, mediocrity, and trash of the Atlantic City just a few blocks away.
