USA/OR: Cape Arago State Park

Cape Arago just put far into the Pacific Ocean as one of the most prominent headlands on the Pacific Coast. Located at the end of Cape Arago Highway (it’s literally the end of the road) southwest of Coos Bay, Cape Arago is a super scenic peninsula of high cliffs and panoramic views out to the the Pacific Ocean. Cape Arago was first sighted by Europeans during one of Sir Francis Drake’s expeditions in the late 1500s. Captain Cook sailed by as well. Dense coastal fog covered the entire cape and little could be seen. Freezing water-saturated air is also not particularly pleasant. But this is the norm on the cold Oregon Coast.
