USA/TX: Shamrock – U-Drop Inn
The historic Route 66 crosses western Texas and one of the most iconic places in the entire route is the restored U-Drop Inn and gas station in the small town of Shamrock. The station and the cafe were built in 1936 in the Art Deco style. In the 1990s, the station fell into disrepair but was eventually painstakingly restored in early 2000s. The station was actually featured in the the animated Cars movie. In 2014, a Tesla charging station was open right next to the U-Drop Inn – a stunning contrast of everything from 1930s and the 21st century. Wow!
