USA/UT: Salt Lake City – Utah State Capitol
Utah State Capitol, built in 1912 is a spectacular building, standing in the heart of Salt Lake City and offering panoramic views of the valley and all the snow-covered mountains. Its design was inspired by the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., featuring a central dome and classical columns. The building houses the House of Representatives, Senate, and Supreme Court of Utah. The park around the massive structure and the Capitol itself are open to public – you can roam around all the floors and even watch the legislature when in session. Lots of marble and spectacular chandeliers and gilded features all around. Interestingly, the building was renovated just a few years ago and its foundation reinforced to withstand a 7.3 earthquake.
