USA/WA: Mount Rainier NP – Glacier & Avalanche Lilies

There are some absolutely stunning meadows and mountain sides covered with glacier and avalanche lilies in Mount Rainier National Park. Glacier lilies are yellow and avalanche lilies are snow-white (Erythronium grandiflorum and Erythronium montanum in Latin). These the first flower to break through the snow cover in spring (although the springtime on Rainier begins in very late July or Early August). Typically the two species don’t mix, but it clearly wasn’t the case here, as the entire slope of the mountain was covered with insane amount of blooming flowers!
