USA/Alaska: Flying to Katmai National Park
On the way to Katmai National Park, you cross the spectacular Brooks Range with massive mountains and volcanoes, and wide glaciers flowing in between them. Katmai National Park itself has five active volcanoes and beautiful green tundra interspersed with blue rivers and lakes. It takes three separate flights to get here (an airliner, a smaller turboprop, and a float-plane), and the only lodge and few campsites sell out for almost a year in advance, but it’s well worth the efforts.
