USA/SC: Congaree National Park
Congaree National Park Congaree National Park is one of the newer American parks and protects a large stand of old-growth hardwood forest. The forest is usually partially flooded and turns into a large swamp, where the fat cypress trees stand half-submerged in the water like sentinels. Boardwalks lead you on trails throughout the park areas that are open to visitors. The stumpy tree look strange and otherworldly and we even spotted a large own on an early morning hike.
