National Elk Refuge protects the largest elk herd in the world, numbering over 7500 animals. While in summer, the elk roam around the forest, in winter – they come out in hundreds onto the open fields outside Jackson Hole for food and warmth. You can get up close and personal with these massive animals on sleigh rides.
