USA/WY: Yellowstone NP – Geysers & Hot Springs
Yellowstone National Park was the first national park created in America in 1872. Interestingly, it was also the first national park in the whole world! One of the largest attractions of the park are its volcanic features (the entire park is one giant caldera) with hundreds of geysers, hot springs, fumaroles, mud pots, terraces, and so much more. There are a total of 1293 geysers in Yellowstone and over 10,000 geothermal features – it is the largest geyser field in the world. Old Faithful Geyser and Grand Prismatic Spring are perhaps the top two things to see. You need several days to explore the park fully with all the geyser basins, natural features, wildlife and flora. There are two loops – upper and lower – that allow access to many different areas. Along the way – there are spectacular vistas, gushing waterfalls, herds of bison and deer, and the white terraces of Mammoth Springs.
