Uzbekistan: Aydarkul Lake & Kyzylkum Desert
Aydarkul is actually a man-made lake which was an unintended byproduct of damming the Syr-Darya river during the Soviet Union time. The water flowed into the depression in the middle of Kyzylkum Desert and filled it (it’s mostly sand so it’s useless land from the arable point of view). But the landscapes are awesome – with glistening water, blue skies, and yellow desert.
