Venezuela: Barinas

Barinas is where the Trans-Andean Highway finally descends into the tropical lowlands of Los Llanos. It’s a major hub connecting the agricultural middle of the country to the mountain towns of Merida and beyond. The central heart of Barinas revolves around its historical core, centered on Plaza Bolivar. Here, there is the Barinas Cathedral from 1770, the colonial mansions of the Palacio de Gobierno, and the museum of Casa De La Cultura Napoleon Sebastian Artiaga. Plus the monument to Volicar in the center square.
