Venezuela: Caracas – Plaza Venezuela
Plaza Venezuela is one of the most famous public urban spaces in Caracas, serving as the official central hub connecting the eastern, western, and southern sectors of the Caracas Valley. The center of the plaza has a massive multi-tiered fountain system. There is also Monumento a la Resistencia Indígena (honoring indigenous resistance leaders who fought against Spanish colonization), the Statue of Andrés Bello (who was a famous poet and diplomat and taught Simon Bolivar), and the newly added monumental complex of Victoria de la Gran Guerra Patria (oddly dedicated to the Soviet Union victory in WWII – but mostly featuring pro-Russian propaganda).
