Venezuela: Caracas – San Agustin Metro Cable
San Agustin Barrio is a near vertical neighborhood of chaotically built brick and panel buildings, clinging to a a very hilly mountainous terrain, without roads or pathways. San Agustín Metro Cable is an absolute must-do for some of the most iconic panoramic views of the neighborhood. The cable car system is one of the most innovative urban transport and architectural projects in Latin America, opened in 2010 to bridge the physical, economic, and social divide between the hillside barrio and the valley city below. The 2.1 km line features 5 main stations linking the valley directly into the core of the hillside. Each station has massive panoramic viewing platforms and community gathering spots. The Metro Cable cabins (with names like “Bolivar” and “Chavez” glides over the roofs and deep gullies and the unique aerial gallery featuring massive printed photographic installations on rooftops.
