Venezuela: Hacienda La Victoria Coffee Estate
Hacienda La Victoria is one of Venezuela’s most iconic and best-preserved historic coffee states aka fincas. It is situated in the fertile Mocotíes Valley near Santa Cruz de Mora in Merida State, about an hour drive southeast of El Vigía. The estate takes you to Venezuela’s golden era of coffee export and glory. It was founded by an Italian immigrant who bought the land in the late 19th century and developed it into one of the country’s most technological and productive coffee plantations. Beautiful adobe colonial buildings surround a massive terraced central courtyard designed to spread and dry harvested coffee beans under the sun. Nowadays it’s just a government-owned museum showcasing the site and various historic machinery. No coffee tasting here, but the site is quite unique and interesting nonetheless.
