Vietnam: Danang – Cham Sculpture Museum
I don’t usually do many museums but this one was quite unique – Cham Sculpture Museum in Danang. Cham people inhabited coastal Vietnam since the 2nd century BC and is one of the oldest indie genius culture in Asia. All around central coastal Vietnam’s, Cham people left many ruined temples with unique sculptures that present true gems of humanity, covering the period from prehistoric times and to the 12th century, with various Hinduism and Buddhism deity figures. The museum was established during the French colonial times to preserve this priceless heritage and to rival some of the biggest cultural collections like in London or Cairo. There are about 300 statues here, almost all 1000-1500 years old!
