Vietnam: Phong Nha NP – Tien Son Cave
Tien Son Cave (aka Fairy of the Mountain Cave) is located right above the underground river cave of Phong Nha. While you explore the latter by boat (see previous post #105), Tien Son requires some gruesome hiking up the steps up the mountain in scorching heat. Eventually, you get to the natural entrance and then descend into an absolutely spectacular cave from there. Formations here are massive and rich – stalactites and stalagmites of enormous proportions are all lit and on display everywhere, while a well-laid path leads to the faraway corners of the cave along some big 35m high chambers. Another spectacular show cave, and together with Paradise Cave, easily in top-10 caves I have seen!
