Vietnam/Phu Quoc: Phu Quoc Cable Car
As far as the cable cars go, the Phu Quoc Cable Car aka Hon Thom Cable is absolutely phenomenal. This is the world longest cable car ride, listed in the Guinness World Records Book – 7900 meters. It connects the main island of Phu Quoc with several of the islands of the An Thoi Archipelago, including Hon Thom aka Pineapple Island full of theme and entertainment parks. The cable car opened in 2018 and is a stunning ride over the open ocean. On a clear sunny day, it is supposed to be insane – on a day of a total pouring rain and fog, it a bit less awesome. Nevertheless, it still a bit surreal, as you swing high above the waves (as high as 174 m high) and traverse open seas between the many islands, suspended from long single cables between the towering platforms. Phu Quoc cable car is a 3-wire cable car using the most modern technology in the world, it also senses magnetic disturbances and automatically shuts down with lightning.
