And one more post from Yaroslavl – the Church of Elijah the Prophet. This spectacular 17th century church is located right in the heart of Yaroslavl bear the main square and is considered then most important and equally the most beautiful and a real masterpiece of Russian religious art. The church was built in 1647 by money donated by the local Yaroslavl fur merchants, with whitewashed walls and green-onion domes and a free standing belltower. But it’s the interior that is absolutely mind lowing here with stunning frescos covering everything – walls, columns, ceilings, etc.
