Zambia: Cruising Kafue River
Cruising the river is by far the best activity in The Kafue National Park, and I managed to get on the water 4-5 times. Most animals and birds can be seen here in a stunning diversity. Hippo heads pop up everywhere, elephants come to drink (and some to cross the river), Nile crocs are basking in the sand banks, waterbuck and puku antelopes come to take a sip, and lions and leopards visit too. And then there is birdlife – African fish eagles grabbing big fish in flight, various species of kingfishers and beeeaters, geese, herons, ibises, storks, and many, many others. Fishing is great as well – bream and pike are easy to pull out.
