Zambia: Kafue NP – Red Velvet Mites
These weird tiny little creatures come out after the first rains and dot the ground with bright red color. They are known as red velvet mites aka rain bugs aka Trombidiidae and belong to Arachnids. They are somewhat related to ticks and spiders, but these particular ones are ferocious African predators hunting and eating termites.
