Zimbabwe: Hwange NP – Birds of Hwange
There are 420 recorded species of birds in Hwange, so it’s truly a birder’s paradise (and while I am not a birder per se, you get hooked into trying to spot and count all the species). Ducks, herons, spoonbills, storks stop here in their migration routes. Many different species of predators – eagles, hawks, goshawks, vultures, kites – patrol the skies and you can see them sitting high up on dead tree branches. Then there are several large birds that mostly walk the savanna ground – ostriches, secretary birds, cory bustards, southern ground hornbills. And so many others!
