Zimbabwe: Hwange NP – Elephants at a Salt Lick
Hwange National Park didn’t disappoint when it came to elephants – heaps and heaps of them with many small and tiny (as little as a week-old babies). A large group came to a salt-lick area – a former pond that was now dry and the mud and dirt had a high concentration of salt and other mineral which are essential for elephants. One could watch this spectacle for hours, as smaller baby elephants were trying to imitate the parents’ behavior falling all over themselves in mud and dust.
