Angola: Kalandula Falls (from the bottom & across)

Here’s another natural gem of Angola that belongs among the cream of the crop attraction in the entire continent of Africa – Kalandula Falls. The waterfall is one of the largest waterfalls in the world, easily rivaling Victoria Falls and Iguazu Falls. In fact, it is 105 m/344 ft high, which is exactly the same height as its much more famous Zimbambe/Zambia counterpart and 400 m/1300 ft wide, forming a near-perfect and totally spectacular horseshoe. If road allows (which it did with a Landrover Defender), you can descend to the bottom of the falls and have a surreal view of the entire curtain of the falls. You get soaking wet here and taking pictures is an exercise in futility, but it’s a once in a lifetime experience for sure. The view from the top, across from the falls gives you a perfect panorama of the natural wonder, much more panoramic and all-encompassing views than at Victoria Falls. And unlike the hordes of tourists in Zambia and Zimbabwe, you are guaranteed to be the only tourist group in here, visiting the falls in Angola.
