Czech Republic: Karvina – Church of St Peter of Alcantara

Italy has its leaning Tower of Pisa, but Czechia has its own leaning structure – Church of St Peter of Alcantara – known as the “Czech Pisa”. As the entire area of this part of the country is full of coal mine, the ground sunk underneath the church and it is now leaning quite heavily to the right. In fact, the ground around this are, sunk a whopping 121 feet (37 meters) over the last 40 years, the town was moved over to a more stable area, and only this tilting church remains.
