Dominican Republic: Puerto Plata – Historic Center

Puerto Plata is the main town in the north coast of the Dominican Republic, a small, cozy, and beautiful town with plenty of colonial architecture. Far away from the bustle of mega-crowded Santo Domingo and tourist-milking-machine of Punta Cana, Puerto Plata is pleasant and welcoming. The historic center has the Parque Central in the middle with the San Felipe Cathedral towering on one side and a ride of colonial Victorian buildings on the other three. The grid of streets radiating from here has plenty more of great architecture, restaurants, cigar factory (coming next), art galleries, and much more.
