Greenland: Whale watching in Disco Bay

To go whale watching, you first need to navigate icebergs big and small to get into relatively clear waters of the Disco Bay south of the Icefjord (understandably whales don’t enjoy diving among floating tons of ice). Once in the clear, it didn’t take too long for humpback whales to appear – it’s a very fertile ground for them with tons of Greenlandic shrimps and plankton. There was a lot of diving action with spectacular tail flukes set against the snowy shoreline and occasional icebergs. One whale surfaced within 10 meters of the boat…
