Jeju Island: Jeju Island Food Recap

Jeju Island cuisine, while Korean, has many unique peculiarities and specialties. The abundant fish brings such delicacies as abalone and sea squirts as well as loads of other seafood items (shrimp, crabs, clams, fish, sea cucumbers) that all go into a boil pot known as haemul tang. Another truly Jeju specialty is Jejudo black skin pork, grilled in a Korean BBQ style. The best meal was a whole octopus over rice, while the most insane was raw abalone and sea squirts. In a classic Korean style, every main dish comes with a set of 6-10 accompaniments of pickled vegetables. Finally, the sashimi style raw fish at the seafood street in Jeju-city is an absolute must-do, coupled with strong soju.
