Madagascar: Leaftail Geckos
Leaftail geckos are endemic to Madagascar and in my humble opinion are the most incredible animals on earth. Everybody heard of lemurs and chameleons but these guys are the kings of camouflage – not only do they change color but they adapt the pattern scheme to match the underlying tree branches and then remain motionless for a whole day (they are nocturnal). I saw three species in the wild and several at the Reptile Park. Every time I couldn’t find them while literally staring straight at them until the guides pointed out the eyes. Beyond amazing!
